I'm having a very big problem with my laptop. I had a few virusses and spyware, and i deleted them with anti-virus software. After this i restarted. Then i came to the log in screen, when I clicked my name and filled in my password, I see the desktop for one second, and it immediately goed back to the log on screen. Same in Safe mode, I can't do anything.

    Does anybody have a solution?

well I have never seen this before, try not using a password when logging in, does this work? What antivirus and spyware cleaning programs did you use? If all else fails and you cannot access you may have to remove your laptop HD, connect it to a desktop as a slave, save all your files, put it back in your laptop and reformat.

    No that doesn't work.

I used Housecall from trendmicro, I don't use pre-installed virus scanners, because some virusses disable them.

It is rather important that I keep this Windows installation, so I prefer not to format the HD.

the only thing I can suggest is that you call MS support.

Did you try logging on as administrator in safe mode or your username? Have you tried logging on to another username, if there is one?

    Using XP Home or Pro?

On normal start, there is one username, in safe mode, there are two: Administrator, and my default name. Doesn't work... not even in safe mode

The only thing I know to suggest is repairing your current installation.

Got your XP CD? Set BIOS, boot from CD, first time it asks if you want to repair using recovery console, say no, next you should get a screen option to repair existing install. (instructions from this thread)

Can't do that, my HD is too full, and it's a laptop computer, so I can't put the HD in my desktop system. Is it possible to link my 2 computers, and then solve this problem??

I honestly don't know the answer to that. You might want to post in the networking section and ask if you had a direct cable connection between PCs, if you would be able to see it's drive while it was at the logon screen. I'll try to find some info on original problem when I get back. Got some errands to run.
