Outlook express & Windows Massanger

    I m using outlook express but don't like the Windows massanger, I removed the massanger from the list of XP installed components and he disapered but when I open Outlook express he is back in my my taskbar and I can't get reed of it.Maybe some one can advice me how to get reed of the win. Massanger for ever.

    To remove Windows Messenger completely, go to Start>Run and type in (or copy and paste from here):

    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    Click OK.

    That should do it....worked for me, anyway.

    And, the other Messenger can be disabled in Admin tools> Services. That's the Messenger that allows Pop Up ads on your desktop with no browser open.

    Looking for that command Miz just posted is how I found Windows Help-Net in the first place. Ah... sweet nostalgia. BTW, the command works like a charm. Just type run, cut and paste it in, and when you're out of there, reboot. No more green bowling pin thingy!
