Just successfully burned my first DVD onto a DVD+RW. Works perfectly in the computer, but my (coupla years older) DVD player can't read it. Questions:

    1. Do DVD players, in general, not read DVD+RW's, or is this just an obsolete player problem?

    2. Does a DVD+or-RW have to be finalized in order to be read?

I'm not planning on using any more RW's for movie burning, but before I invest in a stack of +R's or -R's that won't work in my player, I thought I'd try and find the answer to my problem. I may well have to relegate my old player to CD duty, and buy myself a new DVD player that is + and - compatible.

It has to be finalized, yes. Some DVD players will only read DVD+R or DVD-R disks. I have had the best results with Verbatim DVD+R.

Yoy might want to update your DVD driver if it is that old.

Check this page and do a search for your player. If it is listed it will tell you if it works with DVD+RW. I have not had any problems with DVD+RW playing in my DVD player.
