I was wondering... When I restore.. it tells me Unable to restore... I tried many times... some one said that the back up files is full?
Is there a way to fix this without have-ing to do a re-format?.. other then that I've had very good luck use-ing ME... for more then 4 1/2 yrs now..!

    Please Advise...
    TY

    Hi
    " "without have-ing to do a re-format?. "
    surely there is
Well usualy when it says unable to restore etc etc it will say (if memory serves) try restarting the PC and try it again .. have you ?

Most likely its becouse something else is going on ,like and install or uninstall,, still needs the pc to be restarted .

so there had/should be more of an error than just unable to restore ?
and when did it give the message exactly

How much free space is there ?
Can you make system restore points ?
why are you wanting to use it,, ie what's the problem/problems ?

These a few ideas here (three pages of info)
    http://www.windows-help.net/windowsMe/system-restore.html

and I hate to do the but heres a MS kb search "windows me" and system restore

This problem often occurs for one of two reasons.

    1. Either the system restore process has been corrupted.

    or

    2. You did not install the System Restore critical update from MS. This solution requires you to go to www.windowsupdate.com and download the system restore critical update. This update fixes a severe bug in which system restore will fail in being able to restore your computer after september 2000, I think it is, or 2001. In any case you need this update for system restore to function.

To try fixing the first solution (although I think the second one is your problem. Right click on my computer and go to properties. Then click on the performance tab. Then click on the file system button, then go to the advanced tab on the new window that shows up. There should be an option to "disable system restore." check the box, hit apply, then ok, then hit ok on the other window, you will be asked to restart, do this IMMEDIATELY> Then go back in and uncheck this after windows restarts. You may want to try this and see if this fixes your problem

Please note in both cases you will lose all your restore points. Whether you clear the system restore folder, or install the update (the restore update clears the restore points that don't function.) and makes a new checkpoint when installing.
