    I am running Win98se.

I cannot get the Find option [Ctrl-F] to search the registry after I put in a string of numbers.

I have Regedit running and Find will come up and I paste in my string of numbers. When I hit Find Next, the 'Searching The Registry' box comes up and it just does nothing. The spy glass is not moving.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Daniel

The glass isn't supposed to move! Leave it long enough and it'll probably finish the search!

    HTH.

It does take ages sometimes for the find in regedit to finish, it all depends on the speed of the pc and the ammount of info in the registry as it has to search every single entry.

Patience is a virtue as they say :)

Thanks for your help. It did finally respond. I had assumed it was doing nothing.

    Thanks again

    Windows "Regedit" is painfully slow.
I use free "Registrar Lite ", which is much, much faster.
    You can get it HERE
