Everytime I send a message using my Netscape mail, my SENT folder records it two times (twice). How can I make it record only once? Thanks for any help, SKEETF

    Hi SKEETF,

I have to admit that I've not seen this problem before. Have you tried deleting the Sent.msf file?

    Close Netscape and Quick Launch
Navigate to your \*.slt folder\Mail\MailAccount folder
    Delete the Sent.msf file

Open Netscape and send yourself an email. Is the email saved 2x in the Sent folder?

Post back and let us know...

    Ramona :D

I deleted the Sent.msf file from this path: C:\WINDOWS\Application\Data\Mozilla\Profiles\(*--*)@bellsouth.net\*.slt\
    ImapMail\imap.mail.netcenter.com
but I still get a double entry in my save folder with a test e-mail to myself.

Through 7.1's e-mail program I have set up 3 accounts:
    1) Bellsouth which is my ISP provider and my main e-mail
    2) Netscape, which is a free e-mail with Netcenter, and
    3) Softhome, which is another free e-mail.

I do not have this problem with the other two e-mail accounts and did not use to have this problem with Netscape until recently. Any suggestions?
    SKEETF

Check your "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings" and look in "Copies & Folders" for the mail account where you are getting double saved messages. You may have set yourself up to place a copy in your sent mail folder AND to "bcc:" yourself.

If that's not it, then I'm stumped.

I have a my account set up to send a copy to my SENT folder
    but NOT to BCC myself.

However, I unchecked the circle to keep from getting a copy of my e-mails sent to my SENT folder and now I get a single copy of my test e-mails there whether I want them or not! Any thoughts??

    Hi SkeetF

Hmmm, unusual problem, that be normal for WEBmail.
One more thing you can check... Go to your Netscape WEBmail using the WEBview site, not through the email client. Once at the WEBview and your account is open, click on "Folders ". This should display all your folders.....
    First question...
Is there just one "Sent" folder? The reason I ask, once I had 2x draft folders in this view... which caused problems when I viewed using the email client.
    Second question....
If one folder, open it, do you see "duplicate(s)" in this folder?
What were trying to understand, if the duplicate activity is "orientating" from server end (Netscape email server) or is the 2nd copy being generated "uniquely" to the email client contained in your Netscape program. If the latter, would suggest a "stuck" setting not releasing. Prior to this problem, had you made any changes in the "Copies and Folders "?

ANSWER: I have (1) one Sent folder in my Main Netscape account and Netcenter e-mail.

ANSWER: When my 7.1's "Copy to sent folder" circle is unchecked in my Main Netscape account, I get a single copy of my 7.1's test e-mail in both my Main and Netcenter programs whether I want them or not.

When 7.1's circle is checked, I get duplicate (2) copies of my test e-mail in both programs.

When sending a test e-mail from Netcenter to itself, I get only a single entry in the Sent folder of both my Main and Netcenter programs whether the circle is checked or unchecked!.

Prior to this problem, had you made any changes in the "Copies and Folders "?

    ANSWER: No changes.

    Thanks for help so far!!

    Hi SkeetF

I broke teeth on N7.0 / IMAP Webmail. When released, it had a number of "flaws. One of them was the "Sent" folder. Can not remember the "Error message" I was receiving, but ......
Go back into "Copies and Folders" for your IMAP Netscape account and check the following.....

The "Sent Folder on:" What mail account do you have it assigned to? My guess would be Netscape WEBmail IMAP account.... and now the problem it creates....
Netscape WEBmail primary website (the GOD end) has by DEFAULT "send a copy to "Sent Folder" (no way to un-enable this). Now you and I come along with Netscape email client giving us the "option" to "send" a copy of again... if you have it set to "Netcape Mail IMAP account" it will generate the 2nd copy.
If you / I / we / read that phrase, we are "Successful ". You now have "one copy in SENT folder..... the "DEFAULT" setting (no option allowed) at the Netscape WEBmail view / Netscape email server program end. I hope I explained it so you understand. If you did NOT have your email client set to save a copy in your "Netscape WEBmail" IMAP account, I'm just as confused as everyone else. If you do have it on NetscapeWEBmail IMAP account... this is a "Program Logic Error "... it should never have allowed the option, creating duplicate writes. This can be confusing, but IMAP accounts are a different breed of email accounts. The HOST end is the master and controls everything. Your email client just mirrors the activity.

Thanks for all your help. I guess I'll just have to live with the "Save a copy" to Sent Folder turned OFF! I only get one copy that way. SKEETF

    Hi SkeetF

Just curious, was the "Send Copy" pointed at your "Netscape IMAP account" when it was creating duplicates?

    Thanks for the update..
As an option you can reactivate "Save a copy" to Sent Folder ... just point in to your "POP3 account ". This is how I have mine set. This gives me a copy of "ALL" of my sent emails in one local folder.
