I can't open any file from my CD-Rom drive working in Normal Mode / Windows XP Pro. An error message says that some entry point has not being found.

Audio CD plays nicely and the drive works perfectly in Safe Mode.

If I copy the file from the CD to the hard disk and try to open it, the same message comes.

Try doing a system restore, or update the driver of your CD-ROM.

    Thanks for taking your time.

However the malfunction happened after repartitioning the hd, formatted and reinstalled Windows XP and SP#1.

The drivers are those from Windows and the cr-ROM works perfectly in Safe Mode, the problem only happens in Normal Mode.

    Take Johanna's point ........

By any standards your signature is excessive - we don't need to know all that and it wastes valuable Board space.

Please trim it to, say, 3 lines max.

Any CD or a specific CD?

Do you have the same burning software loaded as was loaded prior to the format, etc?

The fact that it works in safe mode does suggest a possible driver problem, but as it's a Windows basic driver, maybe not.

Have you tried removing the drive in Device Manager and letting Windows find it again on reboot?

Have you reloaded all the updates subsequent to SP1? - there have been so many and I don't recall if any were specific to CD burning.

    Maybe it's some spell...
It happens with any data cd
I use Nero 6.3 as my burning sw, the same it was installed before
CD-RW drive has being uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times and no changes were observed
Windows updates are in automatic mode and I think I have tehm all installed.
I contacted the CD-RW company and I'm waiting for some help.
    Thanks for the ideas

I don't know how to explain, but after booting tha machine this morning the image was very poor, only 4 colours accepted. I had to reinstall my video board drives and after rebooting the problem was not present anymore.
    Thanks for all
