    Hello again everyone,

Well, I fixed one problem. Now I seem to have started a new one. I can't get on the internet.

First I was having a strange problem that my keyboard wouldn't let my computer go on stand-by. I had an idea that something went wrong with my XP install. Because I didn't have a tab for Power Managment under keyboard. (Computer was saying this is why no stand-by.)

So I decided to put the XP Disk in and let it repair... to see what happened. Well, sure enough.. my computer now goes on Stand-by and the Power Managment tab is there.

BUT NOW... I can't go on the internet. With the repair I lost the settings for my internet. At first I though.. simple enough... go back in, go thru the wizard and set up my account again. But when I go thru the wizard it let's me go thru the steps and has a problem. I tell it "Connect to internet "... then I say "with my own settings "... then when it gets to the next screen, only the bottom bullet is available. The top and the middle bullet are not available. I need the middle bullet to get on the net.

Now.. I know it's not a problem with the computer itself because I'm writing this from the WinXP Home (German Edition) that is also on my computer (dual boot). This connection (same one) works just fine. I even went thru the wizard and it allowed me to see all three bullets.

What have I messed up and how do I get to it??

Thanks in advanced. I apologize for creating so many problems.

    Hi gn85,

I had the same problem after three separate repairs of XP.
It went away each time after I had re-installed SP1 and all the updates that were available.
Have you re-installed SP1 after the repair because it will have been removed?

    Roger

Just came of your other thread. Either reinstall SP! if it is handy.
You will have to navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP and delete the folders numbered 25 & 26, then reboot and your problem will be fixed. That i it in a nutshell.

    Absolutely amazing,

Maggie, you hit the nail right on the head. I didn't even have to put the information back in for my connection. It was there and ready to go.

Simply amazing. Thank you SO much. I know I only come on here asking questions and can't really contribute, but I want to make sure you know how grateful I am.

    Thanks again.

Your welcome. I spent days trying to get my desktop back and right after I gave up and clean installed they issued that KB . My brother sent me the link. I guess enough people had discovered that problem and they finally acknowledged it.

gn85 - if we didn't have folks come on here with questions, this would be a very boring forum. Questions are a contribution.
