Hi again: Just until recently my machine would boot very quickly and smartly. Now it boots the same but it reads the memory (checking NVRM)? Probably no harm but it slows boot till it finishes reading NVRM. Does anyone know how to bypass this read? As it never showed it on screen before.
    Thanks

Look in your BIOS under Boot Menu and set 'Quick Power On Self Test' to 'enabled' - this should solve your 'problem'.

Should do - enable 'Quick Boot' - different Bios's use different terminology :). Mine is Award.

Btw, mine is American Megatrends. It won't allow me to enable quick boot.

You have me puzzled - BIOS settings shouldn't change by themselves. Have you updated the BIOS recently? If not you could look for a later version.

For what it's worth here is a definition of NVRAM

A really wild guess - wonder if your CMOS battery is failing?
