unable to use online Vieus scanners

All of a sudden I am unable to use online Virus scanners. I tried at least four different ones (i.e. panda, trend micro etc.) so it is my problem not theirs. I never had any problem. These web sites all report an error in downloading the active x. I double checked my browsers settings & script & active x are enabled.
Questions:
1) I noticed in my download program file (view object on internet options tab) that I had 1 damaged object & 4 or 5 other objects where the status was "unknown" Is it safe to remove these objects & perhaps correct my problem?
2) Any other ideas?

 

That would be a very good start. The worst that can happen is that whatever uses those components would need to redownload them.

You'll notice that the context menu for them allows for online updating anyway, so, yes, they are safe to remove.
