I am using Windows XP Pro and these are the instructions for using the DLA Program which is included with Sonic DVD.

    **************************************

To switch between DLA and the default recording program:

In My Computer, right-click your recorder drive, then click Properties.
    The Properties dialog box appears.

Select the DLA tab on the Properties dialog box.

    **************************************

Unfortunately, mine does not have a DLA Tab on the Properties dialog box.

Would anyone have any ideas as to what I must have done wrong ... again.

BreezyCricket, run msconfig click on startup tab and make sure the line for "dla" C:\windows\system\dls\tfswctrl.exe is checked.

(This is for a Win98Se OS, so may be slightly different for XP.)

With dla loading at startup the properties item for "use with DLA" should be available for checking in the recorder drive dropdown list.

Edit: Here's a quote from the DLA help re XP:

    Hi JB:

    Thank you for the reply.

    1) "Make sure the line for "dla" C:\windows\system\dls\tfswctrl.exe is checked. "

Unfortunately, mine doesn't have this line, which I will now add, but it would be nice to know why it was not added at the time of installation. (I suspect that there is a 'typo' in this, ie dls s/b dla)

    2) "Note If you are running Windows XP, you must disable the default CD recording software before DLA can record data. "

If I understand the installation information, this would be done automatically, because I am the only User, and if I am incorrect in this assumption, I am in REAL trouble because I would not have the slightest idea as to how to do this and Sonic have not replied to any of my E-Mails, one of which was in regard to this.

Thank you again for your help.

    Hi again JB:

The only difference I have noticed since adding the line as per your instructions , is that I now have a "Format" option with the drive, but still no DLA Tab.

As for disabling the O/S recording software, there is a Tab labelled {No Pconfig} in the Drive properties which does this.

Thank you again for your help.

Do you have the latest DLA software installed. If not go to HP's d/l site here: DLA Ver. 3.1

Another suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall the DLA s/w.

It should put several entries on the properties drop down menu

    Eject
    Format
    Make compatible
    Use with DLA

Should also install a "DLA" tab under the Properties menu item.
