I have gone to the "corporate" WindowsUpdate site and downloaded all existing updates for XP and Win9x. I did it this way because I can DL the update files on my broadband connection, burn it to a CD, and avoid having to suffer through a dial-up eternity. Is there any easy way (*read "program "*) to run a "local" version of WU? What I mean is...have a program check a particular machine for needed updates and then install them from a CD/USB Drive as opposed to trying to download them to the local machine from M$.

I have been working around this by logging on to the 'net on a particular PC and going to the WU site. Then, allow WU to scan for needed updates. On the "Review and Install" page, I stop WU there. Then I do a search on my CD for the KB/Update numbers and run the exe to install the update. It's not really that hard, but repetitive and time consuming (isn't that what programs are for?).
