    I have a custom made system that has been working fine for a year now,
    and after I shut down the last time and went to reboot the monitor wouldnt come on. I checked the memory and it was fine, . . . . then I pluged the monitor into another system and it worked fine. The initial green light comes on and then after a few seconds it goes to orange as if there were no video signal, but my video card checked out fine.
    Just don't know where to go from here, any help that you could offer, would be greatly appreciated !
    Oh ! by the way, my keyboard wont come on either and after trying another keyboard I still didnt get activation.

    I'm not sure about the keyboard but I did have similar experience with a monitor. It had to do with an added graphics video board.

    In the back of computer was the original motherboard chipset driven monitor connection, once I added video board and installed per instructions, made sure bios was set to use either agp or pci video [meaning chip video was disabled] then plugged monitor into the graphics board connection rather than computers, I had video.

    If bios was reset to chip default and monitor was still plugged into added graphics board connector if graphics drivers became corrupted, I had no monitor. I then had to plug it back into computers chipset connector to regain video and go through the install process again.

    =======
    Also had a stick of ram knocked loose once and had bootup/video start then fizzle out. The darn thing would power up for about a nano second then shutoff. Firmly reseated ram and I was good to go.

    =========
    To sum up do you have two monitor connections on the back of computer. One for an added video board and one for comp.?

    Have you opened the comp. up to check for loose boards or ram sticks [actually reseat them securely], ?

    Bios check is a no-go since you have no video, at this point.

    =====
    Could be other things such as power supply or a bios reset needed but these [previously experienced] possibilities needed to be eliminated.
