protection error

just formatted hard drive, and then done a clean installation of
Win_me, everything seemed to go well till it was time for the computer to start for the first time by it's self, everything loaded then BAM: Blue screen, WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR SYSTEM HALTED Message comes up on the screen every time i startup, there seems to be no other message with it, the computer has to be turned off at the mains.
HELP!!!!

Thanks for the info, but all ready tried that. no sucsess.
how come it is a driver problem when there is nothing extra added to the system yet, it is all onboard graphics/sound ect:

Would it be the motherboard drivers, as i fdisked the harddrive, and deep formatted it.
