I have IE 6.0 and want to be able to do this:

type in a URL into the address bar, and as I type, have the full URL be automatically inserted before I even finish typing. I think it appears highlighted.

Currently, if I type in an URL that I have previously used, the pull down menu opens and I have my choices. But, in my IE, the URL is not inserted (like I want it to be), there is simply the pull down menu with choices.

If I'm not being clear enough (which I tend to do), here: for example, I start typing 'www.ya' and the closest website to that automatically appears before I finish typing. 'www.yahoo.com' will appear and all I would have to do is hit enter, and i'm there. I do understand that it will only insert a URL that I have used before; and, if I delete my history this will not happen.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

In IE click tools>internet options>advanced. In the browsing section put a check-mark next to "use inline autocomplete ".

One trick, if you're going to a dot-com URL, is to type in the main word in the domain name...like "yahoo "...and hold down the Ctrl key when you press the Enter key. That will add the http://www and the dot-com.

I know of no way to make IE complete the address the way you want, though. I just use the arrow keys to select the address I want from the drop-down list.
