    Hello!

Yesterday when I turned on my computer and monitor, my screen size was smaller than the day before. The setting is at 640 by 480. This is too big. However, when I change the settings, the screen is too small.

To assist further, about 3 days (or 4) ago, my tower fell over. It slid down the stand and landed on a pillow. No hard bump or anything. The only problem I had after that was a lose modem card.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks and Happy New Year!

    Hi Karen,

Do you know if you have a video card or a video chip on the motherboard?

If you have a video card it is possible that this has also become dislodged. Open up the case - PC powered down - remove the monitor cable from the card (check that no damage has occurred to the socket by the cable tugging when the tower fell) - remove the video card and reseat it. Reconnect the monitor and boot up.

If the problem remains uninstall and reload the video drivers. Check also that the monitor is recognised by Windows and is running at the correct refresh rate.

If the PC was booted up when the tower toppled there is always an outside chance that the hard drive suffered damage if the heads hit the platters, but as you don't mention any other problems this seems unlikely.

    HTH

    Happy and Peaceful New Year

The driver worked! Thanks so much. I'm good at learning and working programs, but the hardware stuff is hard for me. But, I've learned from this.

Again, thanks for the help. Have a great New Year!
