Ad-aware 6 is giving me this error:

    Ad-aware 6 Scanning Result, 12-31-2003 3:11:05 PM
    ------------------------------------------------
    Vendor Type Category Object Comment
Windows RegData Vulnerability HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT:exefile\shell\open\command" " () Possible virus infection, executable file extension compromised

When I open the registry, the default REG_SZ for that key is:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Rundll.exe "%1" %*

What are they trying to tell me? What should that entry be?

    Thank you.

Mine is only "%1" %* but I'm not familiar with the criteria for this one.

The obvious question to me is, are you infected? Try running an online scan just to make sure.

edjer--If you do not get an answer here you might want to post at the Lavasoft Forum (official tech support for AdAware)

Thanks, Newt. I'm going to export the key and try your setting.
I've scanned with NAV 2004, Spybot, Ad-aware and Hijack This.
Everything else is peachy. I can't use the online scans as they make me have to reinstall Norton. Actually, I've only tried the Panda one, but it was enough to make me not want to try the others.

Thanks for the tip, Welshjim. If all else fails...

Thank you both. Newt's setting did the trick. I know it's right because it solved another problem I had where certain exe files would not open unless I "ran as" and unchecked the security box.

I'm sure I'm free of viruses and trojans. It must have been a leftover from some past attack.

    Thanks again.
