Hello my friends I really need some help. I believe my system has a virus...and I do not know how to locate it. I have a new 40 Gig processor...running Windows 98. Just all of the sudden one day...my system just had a mind of its own...crazy things started to happen.....All of my jpg's I cannot open...I can't even change the file types...my connection to my server is slow and I get disconnected many times a day...when I do connect online...I get kicked off numerous times...pages will not load...if they do..they load very slow...some pages will not load all the way...some of my programs...just lock up and freeze...I did have McAfee virus scan installed..but...I understand that if a virus scanner was installed after contracting a virus ..the virus can hide from it...so please help me and tell me what to do to find this virus...I do not have a clue...I have been reading the messages in the forums and I see where some others have had similar problems and they posted a hijack report so that you Pro's could see if there was a problem there(???) also I see many recommend going to online scanners to help locate ...I just don't have a clue where to start to find out if there is a virus attacking my system...I feel confident there is one in here somewhere...Any help or direction is much appreciated....Teresa

There's nothing untoward in your startup list (well ... AOHell and RealPlayer ;) ).

Maybe try giving your system a good scrub ...

Click Start - Shutdown - Restart in MS-DOS Mode and type the following lines (hitting Enter after each line):-

    smartdrv
    deltree c:\windows\temp\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1\*.*
    deltree c:\windows\history\*.*

    Type WIN to restart Windows.

Uninstall any unused programs (via Add/Remove).

    Empty your Recycle Bin.

    Defrag and scandisk.
