    Hi all

This is driving me around the bend, currently running IE6.0SP1 and Outlook Express 6.0 SP1 on Windows 2000Pro SP4.

For some reason I can't paste anything from the clipboard into a new mail. I can however paste into any other application so I am sure the information is sat in the clipboard. I have tried just pasting plain text and it won't paste at all. If I try and paste a email address into the "to" field I just get garbage. I have tried changing the email from HTML to plan text and the same problem happens! Also I don't know if this is related but when ever OE checks for incoming mail it brings OE to the forground...which is a pain in the butt if I am trying to type a document or something.

Any help would be great before I throw my laptop out of the window :D

    Cheers
    Rob

Have you tried repairing IE? OE is tied to it.

Had a look at IE's security settings? Perhaps if set to high or customized the settings that specifically involve CopyNpaste enables and disables maybe effecting OE as well (unsure if the two integrate in this area but harmless experimentation can't hurt as it can be reset.)
NOTE: A reboot may or may not be needed for changes to take a hold.

    Hi,

Ok I have now removed OE by hand as the uninstall failed and reinstalled it. However the problem remains, sometime when I do a paste I get 3 strange characters. Another odd thing is when ever it does a background mail check it brings the window to the front. I have tried beating the PC with a stick and that doesn't help either....it must be a duff DLL or something somewhere but I can't find it.

On a side note I was having major problems with EXPLORER.EXE crashing on me, I discovered that the EXPLORER.EXE had 2 different timestamps on it, so I have replaced this with a good copy and that has fixed that problem.

    I hate PC's!

Were you trying to use the icons to C & P or using Control C/V? Weird, but it sometimes makes a difference.

Think I would do a virus scan. Look here for more info.here

    Hiya

Virus scan was one of the first things I did. Have run Norton and McAfee scanners and nothing was dectected.

I have posted another thread regarding the strange time stamps

    Cheers!
