I was in the middle or a reformat when we had a power cut, which turned of the computer.
I had deleted the primary dos partition and was just starting the create a new partition was at something like 23%. Now ihave no power reaching the hadrdirve at al. The monitor and speakers are still working though. Any ideas as to how to get it back up and running.

    Hi Stitch!

I did a quick Google search for "computer web shops uk" and came up with a few hits at Computer Shops .
Among them was Discount Computers .

I´m in Sweden and when I make a purchase from a web shop, I choose one that has a "real" store near where I live. It´s easier to throw things back at them that way!

If you open your case, you can get all the specs off your old supply. For price searching, try
pricescan . You can use the link to see if they ship to UK.

If you haven't already, try unplugging the power cord from the back of the computer and leaving it unplugged for a while...10-15 minutes is usually more than enough. Then try again. If the power supply has a switch on the back, toggle it off and then back on as well. Doesn't take long and if it works, you've saved the cost of a new power supply.

You might want to look into buying a UPS, too...the cheapest computer insurance you can buy.

As you may know, there are surge protectors that have connections for your phone line, too. They seem to be more expensive than they are worth (not more than new hardware) just for the phone connections, but I have lost 2 computers to phone line surges and I won't be without one now.
