I have 9 Netscape Web Mail accounts. Using the Netscape Mail, I set all of them up and it will only get the mail from the first one on the list. All the settings are the same except for the name and password. I keep getting a "Cannot reach imap.mail.netcenter.com "
What have I done wrong?? This was no problem with the older versions of Netscape!!

I have created several new accounts and profiles to try to solve this and it has not helped!!

Please, is there a way to still do this??

    Thank you,

    TexasFried

Is the problem with Webmail at the website, or as set up in Netscape7.1 Mail and News? From your description it seems to be from Netscape Mail and News. If it is this you are must realize that all these accounts make use of the Netscape IM. You don't have to do anything to use it, but only one password is allowed. You can created one million accounts, but if you do not try to access your mail at the Website first, using the proper passwords, you will be out of luck.
So, if the accounts work ok at the website, try to use the other one with the same password which works.
As an example, I had two Netscape Webmail and two AOL accounts(it also works the same way). Two of those four had different password, but I had to use the same password for all four of them.
And, you say that you had no problem with early versions of Netscape. You could and still can access mail only at the website.
If you have website problems, please, say so, but it would not be a Netscape, the program's fault.

I decided to test my two accounts at the website. Everything shows up incredibly slowly. I sent one e-mail from one account to the other, and it worked fine. But when I sent to another account, nothing showed up.
I am not surprised that Webmail does not work too well, but it sort of work.

When using Netscape Mail And Newsgroups, you can have unlimited accounts, each with a different password. When you run the program by clicking on "Check Mail" it should check all the accounts.
I have 9 accounts and when I try to get the mail I get a message box "cannot connect to imap.mail.netcenter.com ".
It used to connect just fine, now nothing. I also get messages "cannot find server home.netscape.messenger.com ".
If I have to go to Netscapes home page and access each account one at a time, isn't that a bit time consuming? Netscape is waaaaaay to slow for that. I have one of the accounts since Netscape hit the net years ago. Mail And Newsgroups is meant to get all the mail in all the accounts at one time!
Thunderbird has Netscape beat all to pieces. I am going to have to try to set up new accounts and try to forward all my mail to them and use Thunderbird.
Netscape is the sorriest mail account I have had in 15 years!

You can have as many POP3 and IMAP accounts with their own password, in Netscape Mail. The exception are the special IMAP which would not be, otherwise, available, such as AOL and Netscape Webmail. All of them go through the IM, and must have the same password. Will you please try to check the password for, at least, one of those accounts?
If you stored the password, you may have to delete the entry in Privacy & Security|Passwords|Manage passwords.
Of course, you may continue to try to do things your own way, and complain.

Okay, lemme start over. When I open the Netscape browser, at the top I click on Windows, then I click on Mail and Newsgroups. In this program you can check multiple accounts and the program can remember your passwords if you choose. I have been using this for years since it first became available and now it has stopped working. I have re-installed and re-set up all the accounts to no avail.
I have checked every account from Netscape and they work just fine. I just want to be able to click on the little arrow at the top of the Mail and Newsgroups page and then have it retrieve all my mail as I have for a very long time.
If this is complaining I am sorry, but I simply came here to ask a question. I don't even have Netscape IM on this machine!! And I have never had to enter each password to check each account as the program remembers it for me!!
I was wondering if Netscape made a change and anybody else was having this problem also.

    Welcome to the Forum, TexasFried!

    Hi TexasFried,

Westside is on the mark with the information he has given you.

Netscape WebMail uses proprietary protocols. To access WebMail directly through Netscape 7 Mail & Newsgroups requires that you have NIM (Netscape Instant Messaging) installed. You don't necessarily have to use NIM, only that is be installed. Netscape.net is actually processed through the NIM module, which is one of the proprietary Netscape enhancements.

Without NIM you must access your WebMail account from the Web portal at:
    http://webmail.netscape.com/.

    EDIT:
Also note that Netscape now closes Webmail accounts which have been inactive for 30 days:

    Keeping your account active

You must log in to your Mail account at least once every 30 days. If you do not log in for more than 30 consecutive days, Mail deems your account inactive. All messages in your account are permanently deleted, and you will not be able to receive new messages.

If you would like to reactivate your account after 30 days, just log in and you will be reclassified as an active user and be able to receive new messages.

    Ramona :D
