After performing all of the steps suggested by a previous thread, I still have a problem with Netscape's Messenger application.

I can read and file emails, but cannot send, forward or reply without getting the famous "netscape.exe has generated erorrs..."

Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?

    "messengered up..... ":(

    Hi Suzette,

Assuming that you are using Netscape Communicator 4.7x:

    Close Netscape Communicator
Make a backup copy of your Users folder

    In the C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\Mail folder:
Delete all files with an SNM extension
Do not delete files without this extension, as they contain the mail.

    Rebuild the Netscape REGISTRY:
    Rename NSREG.DAT to NSREG.BAK
The file is located in C:\WINDOWS
    Restart Netscape
You will be prompted for a new Profile
Give it the exact name of your old Profile and it should be recognized when you restart Netscape. Multiple Profiles can be restored the same way.

Check your Mail settings in Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups
    Ensure they are accurate

    One at a time:
Disable any Webaccelerators you might be using
    Disable your Firewall temporarily
    Disable your AV program temporarily
    Does this have any effect?

    Close Netscape
    Open Windows Explorer
    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users
    Delete the NETSCAPE.HST file
    Delete the CACHE folder

Let us know if this helps.

    Ramona :D

    Hi Ramona:

The fix that you suggested above did not work. I was able to upgrade to Netscape 7.1 and the problem of sending, replying and forwarding email went away. Unfortunately, the users will have to learn yet another application....;)

    Thanks for your help anyway
