Okay, so I recently acquired a second computer. It's an older compaq Presario. (if the model name/part number is pertinent...please let me know) Anyways...I bought a cheapy little flat screeen for it to save space on my already crowded desk. My problem is this. It's a windows 98 machine...and the resolution is messed up. When I go into desktop settings, the slider doesn't move from 600x800. I've tried looking for drivers but can't find any for this monitor: Manufacturer: TRT Model: MX501. I've tried "re-detecting" the monitor, to no avail. And I can't find TRT in the device manager under monitors? HELP...I'm at the end of my rope. Oh...and also only the 16 color option is available. Thanks to all who respon:)

You need to update your video card drivers. This should take care of the problem. You should be able to get them here .

well i hope that Zander suggestion might solve you up the problem. But since you said that it is an old cheapy monitor that might means that you monitor does not support better resolution.

Both the Monitor and the Video Card must support the resolution you want and not just one of them.
