    Hi,

Can I tell Excel to use certain characters as functions. Example: use the backslash key (/) to perform addition.

    Thank you.

The only way I know of would be to create a small macro that would do what you want and then set a keyboard character as the shortcut to the macro. Look in Excel Help for Create Macro.

Note there are keys that cannot be used for a macro shortcut so you'll probably have to play around.

As to just remapping the keyboard for use with Excel - I'm not aware that it can be done but someone may know a way.

Newt, You hit it on the head.
You can write Macros to pretty well do anything you want. BUT you better know what you're doing so you don't Inhibit features necessary to to make the Excel program run.
