I am just new to Mozilla and have purchased the CD and installed Ver. 1.5, am running Win 98Se. I have made Mozilla my default browser and eMail provider. All has gone well until yesterday, my brother sent me an email with a animated gif and a link to Firebird extentions, the web page was also in the body of the message(I can open the message in Netscape 4.79) when I click on the message in Mozilla to ope it it crashes my browser with the error: Mozilla has caused a invalid page fault in module GKLAYOUT.DLL at 0167:66152a69f.
Any help would be appreciated. I resent me the eMail without the gif file and the results was the same. Here is the link and the Web page was also embeded in the email.

    Thanks for any help

    Hi Grampejas!

This error was seen more frequently in older versions of Mozilla, and very infrequent in newer Versions. Try the following and see if it helps:

    Close Netscape:
Do a Windows "Find" and see if you have this file: GKCONTNT.dLL
    If so, delete the file.
You probably won't have it, especially if you've never had Mozilla installed. I'm just trying to cover all the bases.

Do a Windows "Find" for: compreg.dat
    Delete the file

Restart Netscape and see if you continue to get the GKLAYOUT.DLL error. If it continues, and is frequent, then I would suggest uninstalling Mozilla 1.5, using Windows Add/Remove. You will not lose your Profile, it will remain intact.

Once you have uninstalled Mozilla (if necessary) then REBOOT your PC. This is necessary so that Windows can update the system files.

Then download Mozilla 1.5 from this site:

    Full Install, 11.7 MB
    OR
    Zip File, 10.4 MB

Maybe your CD is flawed? At any rate you can check that out by trying another executable file.

If you use the Full Install, do a "Custom" install so you can select your components. You may not want Chatzilla, Debug, QA, etc.

If you use the Zip File, all that is necessary is to Create a Folder and merely unzip Mozilla into that Folder.
Find the mozilla.exe file, double click, and you're in business. You can drag that file to the Desktop and create a shortcut for it there.

Let me know if you have questions, and if this is not perfectly clear....

    Ramona,
I did not have the GKCONTNT.dLL file but did have and deleted the compreg.dat and rebooted and I never got the
GKLAYOUT.DLL error but did get Mozilla caused an invalid page fault in unknown module and had to shut down. I will try the uninstall and reinstall next, this is the only email it has done this with, it opes in a flash in Netscape 4.79.
    Real weird?????

I have done as suggested but still get an error, May I forward the email to you and see if you can tell why it is locking up my system?
