Good free spy scan and removal?

    dolphin - if your PC is typical and you hadn't been running any spyware blocker/remover programs, you probably found several hundred bad guys that needed to go away. 300+ is not unheard of.

    If you ran the Immunize feature on Spybot, it should have told you that over 500 spyware items were now blocked from ever getting on your system. I seem to remember the last update I loaded took care of 506 or some such number.

    Hello Dolphin,

    With Spybot it has a suggestion to also use Spyware Blaster along side it. It works great and you can control individual spyware entries, in case you have programs that require their spyware to work. YES... there are those programs out there that need their spyware operating for that program to work. I use both Spybot and Adaware Professional (not free. You can use the free version and it works well) together. What one doesn't get, the other seems to get. Remember new spyware comes out everyday so UPDATE regularly! Be sure to read up on the attributes of these spyware programs to use them effectively and safely. Knowledge is power! I have found that many people's computers run vastly better after running these 2 GREAT PROGRAMS!

    Hi Dolphin,
    Another really good free Anti-Virus is AVG which is free,they also have a Pro version.It's available from
    www.grisoft.com and from memory the free version is on the left of the home page.
    I also run Spybot and Adaware-free version and they both work very well on my XP Pro machine.

    Another great program to use along side those is SpywareBlaster. SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.
