start up windows me

    need help with windows me. My sons computer on start up will only get as far as showing wallpaper and then completely freezes. Cannot get any icons or the start menu to do anything about it not even from the keyboard. Tried putting in a disc but that does nothing either does not seem to know its there. Any help would be appreciated:confused:

    When you said you tried putting in a disk...did you mean a start up disk? You've tried safe mode?
