Installing drivers for Astra 6400 scanner

    I downloaded the drivers for my new UMAX Astra 6400 firewire scanner from the UMAX website because I've had bad luck with the stuff on their CD in the past. I right clicked on the setup program to check its version, and it's a DOS program. Does this mean, I have to run the setup for this scanner in DOS, or can I do it in Windows?

    Actually you most likely have to do it from Windows. If you do it from DOS, chances are the SETUP.EXE wouldn't even run. It's probably a DOS app in that it opens a DOS window and decompresses some files.

    I just used the setup CD and it was Windows. Maybe I downloaded the wrong file.
