Running Win Me with Netscape 7.1.
When I try downloading (ie the NAV update) the file is downloaded and the window indicates that it will "open with efax" . and of course it aborts in error. (efax is my fax viewer for faxes sent to my fax server/receiver)

How do I correct the situation? In Edit>preferences>helper, I see no "helper" for efax or the reference to a *.exe file. I tried reinstall of Netsc7.1 but still have the problem.

The problem must be in Netscape- as it doesn't happen when I use IE to download and the file is saved w/o efax jumping in.

Anybody know how to reset Netscape so I don't have efax jumping on the end of the dowload and causing an abort/error??

    Thanks in advance

    Jim

    You can try the following:

    Close Netscape.
Locate your mimeTypes.rdf file and rename it.
Restart Netscape, and attempt to download the file again.
Let us know if it worked... ;)

    :) Thanks so much...it worked.

I renamed the "4" mimetypes.rdf files found to mimetypesold.rdf and rebooted.

I wasted so much time looking thru ms and what little there was on nescape knowledgebase + miscellaneous postings to try find a solution.

    Thanks again.
