This is not a biggy, but if anyone has a solution.....
Frequently, I will have numerous views sitting on the Task Bar. They are mix of Explorer file views, browser views, program views. At times it would be convenient if a "group of tabs" I need are in a row, side by side. Is there as easy way to re-assign the location of a tab on the Task Bar. Tried "like group" options and have "Tabbed browsing ", but they did not provide a solution. Tried layered screen views, but I prefer "full screen view ". Sorry for being so picky.

I guess I just don't understand the question. Do you want to sort them, or do you want to change their position? Do you use the Quick Launch toolbar? These are the windows open notices, right, not the icons, that you want to change?

    Hi Johanna
    Thanks for taking a look.

Yes, these are open windows notices.
Let's say I have 8 open notices sitting on the task bar...
Extreme left... browser Google view, and Word Doc view.
Far right ... a different Google view.
Is there a simply way to re-position these opposite ends of the tool bar "window notices" so all three now sit next to each other.... OR in simpler words...
    Current windows notice positions 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
    Repositioned windows notice positions 1,2,8,3,4,5,6,7.

Right-click the Taskbar, and select Properties. Make sure that Group similar taskbar buttons is checked.

Thank you Arnie. Have tried "group similar" via task bar. Unfortunately when I prefer 3x window notices in a row that are "dissimilar" in value...example, Explorer, Google, Adobe it does not work. This is not one of life's challenges to bounce around the taskbar, so let's not lose sleep over it. Possible a future "Tweaking Toolbox XP" feature... "Drag and Drop" window notices on the task bar. :)

Someone should write a SCRIPT that would create a shortcut icon on the quick launch toolbar everytime a window is launched. That shortcut icon, when clicked, should bring the window into focus. Maybe different numbered icons to distinguish several and a tool tip for each to describe the window. AND, because they are icons on the quick launch bar, they can be moved around.

    Just a thought.

ps - and the SCRIPT should remove the appropriate icon when program is closed.
