When ever I sign off on my WinXP computer, a window comes up and says, "Ending Program - 0. Please wait." It never can sign it off by itself, I have to end the program. What program is this, and how can I stop this message. I looked in running process's and can't determine which one it is from there. Plus I don't want to mess with msconfig in winxip, cause they tell ya not to. I thought maybe it was some kind of adware or virus. I ran adware remover and Spybot. Still no help. Have Norton 2004, with updated virus file, ran that, and I'm clean. What could it be, andhow can I fix it. Short of doing a step back restore, Please help, any suggestions are welcome. :(

    Hello mroe,

*Plus I don't want to mess with msconfig in winxip, cause they tell ya not to*

    You're going to have to.

Look at the statups and see if there is anything there. You will get a message after using msconfig - a canned MS message, tick the "don't bother me again" after it's use.

In the Task Manager, click on the 1st column - names - and that will put them in name order. Should make it easier to look for something.

    Regards - Charles

Ya, I thought it may come to that. I was gonna try shutting things down that I don't know what they are, restart and go from there. Seems like a long way to try and fix this problem. But I just don't understand. It says, "Program - "0" " like it don't know the name. Sounds kinda sneaky to me. That's why I thought it was an ad program. Will let ya know how it pans out. Thanks

Well, I found it, it was some little obsurce program in the startup list. Not sure where it came from but after I disabled it, my computer seems to function okay, and no more ending program problem. I did disable a couple of them, so I'm not exactly sure which one created the problem. Will check everything against the list you refered me to, when I get a few more minutes got to get ready for work this morning. Thanks again for the help. :)
