After i have installed XP on a NTFS partition it will not recognise the E: drive which is an extra HD (NTFS) existing under my old config with w2000 Pro.
I delete the system partition with and created a new one.
Booted from CDRom and formatted the new partion to NTFS.
    The installed XP.
The old config had W2000 on C: Data on D and extra space on E:
    all OK
The permissions on the E: drive (under w2000) were set to admin and myself only ,no access at all for other users.
In explorer it is shown as the E: drive with no details.
In the disk mgr it showns data used and free space.

How can i access this drive again without radical measures or deleting data on this partition.

    Thank you
    Luc

Did you upgrade XP over the old 2K load or did you set to dual boot XP & 2K?

You didn't mention if you have XP-pro or XP-home. It's always a good idea since they do some things very differently.

If you have XP-pro then while logged on with an account having admin rights, try opening Windows Explorer and Taking Ownership of the drive. Right-click on the drive icon then properties~security~advanced~owner and set the ownership to your logged on account.

XP-home probably has a way to do the same thing but I don't use that OS and have no way to see just how to do it. Maybe it will need the same as many XP-home security things where you have to boot to safe mode to even see the options.
