when i installed this game [http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=24881], i suffered a big problem

ntvdm.exe jumped on my screen, said it doesn't work and must close, then my pc crashed

later, i installed tamedos [http://www.tamedos.com/tame/tamehome.htm] and hoped it can solve this disaster, but the truth is that ntvdm.exe jumped on my screen again, so my pc crashed one more time

    oh, what a terrible ntvdm.exe

please tell me how to solve this problem

    thanks

The game lists Win98 and later OS versions it will run on. Nothing about any earlier ones.

ntvdm should only be needed for a 16bit DOS game and I'm confused as to why this app would even try to use it.

There should be details about the error in your event logs - could be either the system or the applications log. If you can locate such an error, please post it here. When you open an event you can click the icon below the up/down arrows and send a copy to your clipboard. Then just paste it here.

i think my ntvdm.exe is totally broken, although i don't know why it happens

last time, when i wanted to uninstall surething cd labeller 3, the same problem happened

so, i guess these programs, surething cd labeller 3 and that game, are written by 16bits

anyway, i decided not to install this game for a while, because i suffer a new problem which is about mmc

Try (from the shortcut) setting the app to 98 compatibility mode and see if that helps.

If not and if you need the app(s), you may need to keep 98 since there are older applications that will simply not run on XP. Older games, especially, were often written to make the hardware do specific unusual things to help the game's performance.

None of the NT systems (NT4/2K/XP) will allow ANY application to directly manipulate hardware and the HAL (a part of the OS that traps the hardware calls and then does what it thinks is needed) sometimes can't figure out exactly what to do. Result - a game that won't work and may crash things.
