i have the hewlett packard all in one scanner printer copier, model 2175. i have windows xp. i am having trouble bringing up the HP Director. i get abox that states i have a script error on line 126, character 9. My Staples support was no help. Either was my HP support, live or on line. They had me uninstall and reinstall uncountable times. I ran through pages of solutions for this script error from HP. Nothing helps. I cannot opne the HP Director to chose my functions. Any ideas? The Staples support suggested it may have soemthing to do w/ 'ms config'. I am a beginner of sorts, so go easy! Thanks much!

Try disabling script debugging (tick the box) and untick display a notification about every script error in IE from the tools menu/Internet Options/Advanced.
If you installed from the original disc, then try downloading the drivers (if available) from the HP site in case there is a file corruption on the CD copy.

Thanks Paul for your suggestions. I did try those things many times w/ the support help, but nothing worked. Just for good measure though, I tried again, but still no luck. I am about to throw this all in one out the window. Any other suggestions.
Thanks though for your help! :O)

I have locked the 'weatherbug' thread with the HP problem repeated at the bottom and directed any responses to this thread. Otherwise with two posts about the same issue, way too confusing trying to keep track of what is posted where.

I found on another site that the HP scanning function uses Internet Explorer in some manner. So it might be a problem with IE...spyware, maybe?

If not that, then do you have an anti-virus program running full time? If so, it might have some script-blocking stuff going on. I know Norton AV does. Have you messed with disabling the AV program, if present, during the install and/or disabling it when you try to access HP Director?
