I accessed a site and when I tried to download a file, I received the following error message.

"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet Site ".

Would anyone have any idea as to why this should be, and how I can resolve this 'inconvenience'?

    Many Thanks.

My first guess would be the site is down.. Post the link to the file your trying to download.

I can't find the reference to the Site just now but it was up and running.

I clicked on the link to the Server and was able to view the available files, but the problem occurred when I tried to d/l one of them.

This was using IE, which I seldom ever use and I thought maybe I had a setting wrong, so I switched to my default Browser, Opera.

When I double clicked on the file, one method of d/l, I should have been able to follow the prompts to d/l, but I received a message, "This object has been blocked ".

However, if I used method #2, ie Right-click on the file and select "Save Target As" from the drop down menu and then follow the prompts, it worked fine.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

    Just to follow-up.

I discovered, by accident, that I have a problem of some sort in my Firewall settings.

I asked a friend to access my own site and try to d/l a file, and he was not able to.

We then both turned off our firewalls and the problem resolved itself.

However, this is not a very good solution so I would still appreciate some assistance if possible.

I am using ZoneAlarm Pro v. 4.5, and, as there obviously is an incorrect setting of some sort, any assistance as to a starting point for my troubleshooting would be very much appreciated.

As I always tell everyone, I am a "Reel" expert, so nothing too Technical please.

    What firewall are you using?

I only recently started using ZoneAlarm when I found that the one I had, had some serious shortcomings.

I need something real easy to use.
