Trying to upgrade Photoimpact 5 to version 8. The upgrade CD starts out OK but then I get error notices. First error is as follows:

Error 1101. Error reading from file
    26 Microsoft\Installer\{F101C58C-15CC-42B3-83D1-536CFB960634}\1033MST.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

I hit OK and get a second error notice of:
Error 1603-Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more
    information.

I downloaded ImsMsiA.exe from the Windows web site but when I tried opening it I get a notice of: "Specified service already exists." Is there some way of cleaning this up?

    Thanks for the fast reply.

Pete: I had already tried the Windows web page you mentioned and down loaded the file for WIN98; (ImsMsia.exe.)
According to the data file this is the correct file for adding Windows Installer Software for WIN 98 SE. When I tried to install it I get the following:

Error: The specified service already exists.

Merlin: I tried your suggestion of using Safe Mode to install. No luck, I get the same message that the file already exists and the installation will not proceed beyond that point.
