When sending message with OE (bottom right hand corner) says connecting for a few seconds and then says sending mail. Previously, for years connecting never appeared? No error messages appear. Strange. Hopefully I am making myself prefectly clear? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

    Hi Lis

Is this a 'real' problem - do your emails get sent? If they do then no need to worry:)

I use NAV 2004 with email checking and OE 6 so can't comment further.

The "connecting" phase appears on my OE every time I send mail...and often stays there for quite a while. Other times...rarely...it connects and sends mail so fast "connecting" never has a chance to appear. It's all because of a chronically overloaded mail server at my ISP.

You may have just caught your mail server at a busy time. If you can usually send mail so fast that OE barely has time to display its graphics to tell you of the progress, be thankful. ;)

Appreciate the replies. Road Runner is always connected. Therefore the symtom is considered abnormal by RR techs. Issue has not been resolved to date.

Yes, I have DSL that's always connected, too. However, it's not always connected to the mail server. That connection only happens when checking for mail.

I still think it's just taking a little longer to connect to the mail server. Spam traffic is increasing every day...if not every hour...and mail servers all over the planet are getting more overloaded all the time. Unless a way is found to either shut down or slow down the spammers, I expect things will only get worse.

Comprehend what you are saying. Will post back provided RR finds a malfunction with the server? Thanks

Currently when I hit "send" the message enters the "outbox" and remains there for 45 seconds and then is sent. Is this normal?

Actually 2 things could be occuring.

If your antivirus program scans outgoing mail.
    or
Like others posted, your email server at RR is busy.

Thanks for your reply. Norton has been disabled for troubleshooting. Issue remains?

The delay is now 11 seconds? Is this delay considered normal? Thanks
