    Yes, I have SpyBot, but this has nothing to do with my toolbars.

    Why dont you think the iwon toolbar and bho are mailware/ spyware
    if SpyBot doens fix it try adaware then maybe post a hijackthis log
    its very important not to fix anything you self with this tool, and it would be best to post its log either at net intergration or forum.spywareinfo.com,, yoy could also post it here.
    Im not sure right off about mapquest,, but with this tool it can be removed.

    ======copy paste==========
    Post a log from HijackThis so one of the experts can see
    what's going on.
    current version 1.97.7 dont forget to also keep it updated.
    If you've used it before please dont have anything excluded

    HijackThis Quick Start, get it here
    http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
    or from here
    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/
    Unzip, double-click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan ".
    When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
    Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential,don't fix anything yet.

    Mapquest? What happens when you use the mapquest toolbar dropdown options on the {toolbar itself} and select uninstall?

    See the picture:
    http://www.mapquest.com/features/main.adp? page=mqtoolbar

    Iwon co-pilot:
    How do I "uninstall" the iWon Co-Pilot?
    You can easily uninstall the iWon Co-Pilot using the instructions below:

    Close all open Web browsers
    From the "Start" menu in Windows, select "Settings" and then select "Control Panel"
    Select "Add/Remove Programs" from the "Control Panel" screen,
    Select "Co-Pilot - iWon"
    Click "Change/Remove"
    Then just follow the simple instructions and the Co-Pilot will be uninstalled. Should you reopen your Web browser and still see the Co-Pilot, you may need to restart your computer for the uninstall process to be completed.

    =========
    Suggest doing these uninstalls as directed and then running adaware or spybot which will catch the stuff these may have left behind.

    It is recommended to use standard default uninstall routines, when ever possible, before using other or secondary removal procedures. This helps to cut down on the cleanup and lowers the risk of an incomplete uninstall.

    Back up your registry first then navigate to the following key..

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions]

    You should find the entries that you want to delete.

    Ok, I went to Mapquest site to uninstall it and it finally went away. I didn't think to go there.

    As for iwon co-pilot, I had to do it in regedit because I still couldn't uninstall it (I had uninstalled it before, but it was still in Add/Remove Programs and on toolbar menu in IE). It took a long time, but I finally got all of them out in regedit. Thank you, Barbara, for reminding me to use it.

    Thank you all for your help.

    :)
