I have searched all over the internet and on this forum for information on this subject. I used to be a poor user of WinME, but there was one feature of ME that I liked: Image Preview. Well I upgraded to Win2K but there was no image preview except for the folder view. They both have a shimgvw.dll file which is used by WinME for image preview but I am going to go out on a limb and guess that they are different versions. Is there any way to use this image preview feature other than being in the image preview folder view? It is a pain in the neck to load IE or Mspaint just to look at what airplane I want as my next wallpaper to or whatever else I just want to look at.

    Thanks in advance, BP

    Welcome to the forum.

Wish I had better news but from researching this topic for another thread some time back, I think you are stuck. XP added a decent preview feature back in but it seems to have gone missing with 2K.

You might have better luck with Irfanview than with most other graphic viewers though. A feature I like is the ability to open an Iview window and move thru the pictures by clicking an arrow at the top of the window. It steps you through the the pics in a folder pretty quickly and will handle any graphic type I've tried it with.

Thanks for the info. That's what I was afraid of. I will try Irfanview.
