    Hi.

When I had windows 98 and wanted to send a page by email (one I found interesting and thought a friend would enjoy) I would go to file..click on send..and so forth. The page would be sent no problem. Now, I have windows XP and when I go to send a page by email or one that I have copied and pasted in word pad, I go to file, send and then it asks for a profile name. I have no idea what this means. I've tried everything from putting my name to email addresses and it still will not send anything this way. What am I doing wrong??

    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to WindowsBS:)

I'd guess it wants to know who's sending it. You or FarmerGuy...

    Hi there. Thanks for replying.

I have tried everything from putting my name to putting email addressess in there. Not sure what this is or what it wants me to type in there.

    Hello Farmgirl_30,

I think what this wants is your username for msn (passport). I get the same dialog box and put in my messenger username and it takes me to login page, well, it tries. Always comes up blank for me. I tried playing with this a bit after reading your post but haven't come up with anything positive yet. Sorry! I'll keep trying and let you know when/if I figure it out if someone else doesn't post the answer first.

P.S. I just save the page then send it as an attachment. Slower but works.

    Hello again!

Not sure if I made a change or if it just decided to work, but I clicked file>send>page by email on this page, got an 'enter profile' dialog box, put in my hotmail username@hotmail. com and password and it opened my email 'compose' box.

Played with it some more this mornin. If I put in my hotmail address and password, it works (both accounts). If I put in my msn account info, I get a blank page. Don't know if outlook express will work since I don't use it. My msn account hasn't worked right since the SP1 update. First time I tried to go to mailbox from messenger window it took me to an outlook mailbox. I can only access the msn account by going to msn.com, click on hotmail and login there.

I think it refers to what you have listed in IE, tools, internet options, programs. See what is listed as your default for email.

    aleekat,

You're absolutely right. I changed that to my Yahoo mail and it went there to sign in. Thanks! :)

Hi. I tried all of this and then it asks me what kind of mail I want to send it as. Microsoft mail or internet mail. I clicked next and then it says I have to provide a path to the postoffice.???

I have no idea what this means.

    Thanks

Farmgirl, what are you using for your email? Hotmail, yahoo, outlook express? And do you have more than one profile set up in XP?

Farmgirl. Did you do what I suggested above. In IE, go to tools, internet options, programs, see if OE is listed as the default mail handler..

    Sorry about the typos.

It was to say, I went into the control panel, internet options and programs. In newsgroups it said outlook express.

    Sorry about that.
