I had been using Netscape with the AOL instant messager that came bundled with Netscape. I have just downloaded and installed Mozilla and it seems to be working great.

The only problem is that I don't have the little instant messenger from Netscape in my Component Bar along with the Mail, Address Book, etc. I don't want to use the ChatZilla that is found there and I have all my family and friends using the Instant Messenger.

How can I continue using the Instant Messenger that came with the Netscape Program. I'm afraid that if I delete Netscape from my system, I won't be able to access it at all.

Is there a work around on this problem.

    Thank you.

    Jean

    Hi alrsonjean

You have a number of solutions to use AIM and continue IM'ing with friends / family.
Download AIM 5.2 , once installed, is the "stand alone" version of AIM. Netscape is no longer required for AIM use. You can use AIMexpress , which is a WEBconnected AIM, not requiring any program to be installed. There are also some 3rd party programs you could try... GAIM and Trillian. Both of these IM's can interact with AIM and a number of other popular Instant messengers, all with one program. ALL of the above instant messengers use the same "username / password" you used when connecting to AIM from inside Netscape.

I have also uninstalled Netscape. All is well.

    Thanks again.

    Your welcome.
    Glad everything worked out.
I recently installed Mozilla also, pleasantly surprise when I realized it was Netscape on steroids.
