Network Connections is showing a 1394 adapter and it is keeping me from connecting to the Internet? how can it be disabled and kept from reinstalling itself? thanks!

I found this on Microsofts site...

This article was previously published under Q298646
    SYMPTOMS
An Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) 1394-compliant network adapter is displayed as an active network connection even though the network adapter (or other IEEE 1394-compliant network device) is not active.
    CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the computer has been set up to minimize the number of disabled network-device messages that are sent to the desktop.
    STATUS
    This behavior is by design.

    Hi Barb!

I had the same problem on a Compaq LapTop (not my property!) and this provided the solution:

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > double-click the 1394 Adaptor and choose Disable.

    HTH,

Commonly referred to as "Firewire ". A port allowing connection to printers, camera's, scanners, card readers, ect. I believe it was introduced by "Apple ". It's competitive companion is the USB connection. Both have / are moving to faster connections from there original designs.
