I am unable to change fonts in OE, even when in the Rich Text format. The new font appears in the formatting line but when I try to add text in the message box, it reverts to the original font. I can change the default font, but cannot change the font within OE.

Are you clicking on "New Message" then "format" in the top of the box? A box should pop up with selections from drop down menus. Whatever you select there should be what OE uses for that message. Does that work for you?

Try highlighting your text and then changing the font. What does that do?

What OS and version of OE are you using?

Tried all of that. It behaves as if any changes of fonts are 'locked out'. I can change the font of a new message only by changing the default font for OE.

Forgot to mention that I am using WinXP Pro and OE 6.00.2600. All the latest patches have installed. Thanks, SN

    Outlook Express Fonts

    Problem resolved.

I discovered that when the box labeled "Ignore font sizes specified on Web Pages" in Tools, Internet Options, Accessibility is checked (in Internet Explorer) you cannot change the font size in Outlook Express. At least, unchecking that box allows me to change the fonts within a message. Uncle Bill knows what is best . . . . SN

    Hi SteveN!

I followed the development of this thread so, thanks for posting the solution.

It´s strange (?) how interconnected things are under Windows. This was almost like fixing a flat tyre on your car by pumping one on the trailer a bit harder ......

SteveN - thank you for figuring that one out. I've had the same issue and just sorta growled at my PC and lived with it. Never would have thought that setting the browser to make things easier to read would have that additional effect.

Same thing happens with Outlook as with OE so when I get to work Monday I'll see if the same cure works.
