OK this is my 2nd stop error this month. Both errors have come while using AIM 5.2 with DeadAIM 4.1 installed. I uninstalled/reinstalled both programs.

Also are there any known problems between AIM and XP?

As a matter of fact, I do have an Audigy card. I'm using the 2 year old drivers that came on the CD because I wanted to use the Creative Recorder. For some stupid reason, Creative doesn't offer that as a download. If I were to get an updated driver from the site, could I install it over the top of my current drivers and keep my Creative Recorder functional?

I had seen your thread about the creative recorder a while back. I tried to find it too but didn't fair any better than you did. Don't know what to say. I used to have it on another computer and if memory serves me correctly, it was listed in the add>remove programs. For this reason, I would guess if you change drivers, you'll still have the creative recorder. My guess is it would still run but whether it would be missing some features or not, I can't say. Don't know how closely it's tied to the driver. This is just a guess and not a guarantee of any sort. If it were me, I'd set a restore point and give it a try. You can always restore things back if it doesn't work. I would be willing to bet that this is probably the source of your stop error though.

Having said this, it is odd that they don't have creative recorder available for XP. Maybe it's responsible for the error so they just took it out of the driver package. Don't know what to say.

Well they have a Web update for Creative Recorder available. But I think it requires a current version to be installed, and it kinda upgrades it.

I uninstalled/reinstalled both AIM and DeadAIM and updated my sound card drivers and my Creative Recorder. Hopefully this squares everything away. If it happens again while using AIM, AIM's going bye-bye. MSN Msg is better anyway.

edit: No I wasn't using AIM voice chat. I had just logged on and was minimizing the window to the system tray. The first time it happened, I'd just started typing a message.
