My computer crashed on me recently, although the hard drive is still good. I'm using it as an auxilary drive in my new PC and I need to get some mail from my old inbox to my new one.

My old drive runs on WIN 98 and my new one runs on Windows 2000. How do I do this?

    Hi pcigno,

Your Mail files are simple text files, and can be copied from one program to another. You don't elaborate on what version of Netscape you're using, but here is the drill for either Netscape Communicator 4.7x and Netscape 7:

    Netscape Communicator 4.7x:
On the Windows 98 drive, copy the mail files with NO SNM extension. Paste these file into the W2K mail folder.
Mail files located in: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\Mail

    Netscape 7:
On the Windows 98 drive, copy the mail files with NO MSF extension. Paste these file into the W2K mail account folder: Profiles Folder location

    Caution:
These files will replace any existing files in the new Mail folder. You may first want to rename the Communicator 4.x or Netscape 7.x Mail files, e.g., change Inbox to OldInbox, etc. The renamed files will appear in the New Mail. This will ensure that you lose no existing mail.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Ramona :D
