microsoft word in Office 2000

Have been trying to write a letter have tried three or four times just get about a half page written and the page freezes can`t do anything the whole pages just stays there.
This is happening in Word in Microsoft Office 2000. I am using windows 98 se it worked fine until a few days ago. Any answers

Office has a repair feature built in. Put in the original install disk, and it should give you the repair feature as an option. Takes a while. If that doesn't work. With Word closed, do a find for normal.dot. Delete it. It will be regenerated when you reopen Word.
