The problem is that I open up Outlook Express, can check my mail fine (including hotmail thru OE). But when I run IE I cannot connect to the internet at all? Running ADSL over wireless connection.

Running XP, recently upgraded to Pro (last week - included SP1). Installed Kazaa, then uninstalled it, ran Spybot, removed spyware, etc, then installed iMesh, ran Spybot, repeat, and also WinMX, just to try them all out. I also was running PopupStopper in agressive mode, recently selected IE as the browser I was using.

Unfortunately I did most of the above at, or around the same point, so cant determine what exactly what the problem is. (silly boy!!!!!!)

    Any idea's? thanks.

If you can get your email, you are getting online okay. Have you tried a System Restore? Go back to one of your first restore points, and see if that helps. Do you have any other browsers installed? If you do, might want to check in the Control Panel that IE is your default browser. Post back and let us know how it's going.

You could also try restoring the backup that spybot makes when it removes the spyware. The only problem with this and also Johanna's suggestion is you'll probably end up with the spyware back on the system. It's probably the way to go however. Once you get it so it's working again we can then tackle getting rid of the spyware.

Good thinking Abraxas. I've used it in the past and just plain forgot all about it. I think I'd try this before system restore or spybots backup. If it works you won't have all the junk back on the system.

Hany little program to keep around, especially now that adware/spyware is getting nastier all the time.

    Thanks for the followup.
