Norton AV 2001 Liveupdate

For some unknown reason whenever I run Liveupdate I am now getting a message that says the "update list is corrupted ", and no updates can be downloaded or installed.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but to no effect.

It's always worked perfectly up till now.

I can't find anythng on the Symantec site that covers this.

I have Windows95 OSR2 with NAV 2001.

Any ideas please?

 

I'm using NAV 2002 on an XP computer.

This might help.

Open NAV\Help\Find and search for "corrupt ".

I've had this happen and found deleting the contents of the live update folder corrected the problem. The following document at Symantec explains how to do it. Go to the knowledge base and do a search for 2000081414542113 for instructions and explanation.

 

Thanks for advice, but I've now uninstalled NAV 2001 because Symantec have made it clear that it is no longer supported which means that updated virus definitions are unlikely to continue to be available.

Whether this had some bearing on my corrupted lists I don't know.

As I want to stay with 95 I don't have an option to upgrade Norton. I've now installed AVG (free) with excellent results
