    Hi

I can find no answer to what I'd like to achieve. When I open NS 7.02 for instance, it opens to a single window pane and if I want a second pane, I can get one by clicking on the TAB icon to the left of the HOME icon. Later is easily closed by clicking the X in the upper right corner.

Here's what I'd like to achieve: I'd like `Explorer' to open in a single pane and not in two panes , the first of which I can minimize to about 1/2 to 3/4" on the left and close out by clicking that little X. In essence, Explorer works opposite to NS.

Now, I can go to View/folder options/view and click `like current folder' to have all windows open alike ...BUT... when I close Explorer and then reopen it, the two left and right panes are back as though Explorer persists in returning to its default appearance.

It's not a big deal, just a nusiance. but I'd much like to have Explorer open into one pane with the left side devoted to preview of folders before they're opened. This is no problem except I want it to open this way ALL THE TIME.

Hope I've not confused my goal. Oh yes, I'm talking strictly Win 98SE. Tweak UI doesn't seem to have the answer nor does Windows help or MS FAQs.

    Anybody have the answer?

    Thanks all.

    Hi Welt,
not really sure whether it's Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer you mean...
For Windows Explorer look at the properties for whatever you use to lauch it (start menu / desktop icon / icon in quick launch) by doing a right click on the whatever and choosing "properties ".
The target will probably be showing something rather like
    C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\
the /e switch causes the LH pane (the "explorer bar ") to appear on launch; the C:\ after the /e controls the startup folder, you can change this if you want it to point somewhere else...
...so try changing the target to
    C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,C:\
    apply, and see what happens.
    best wishes, HJ.

    Hello Hugh

You nailed it. I was talking Explorer [not IE] and removing the `/e ' did the trick, exactly what I want after all these years.

    Thank you very much.
