My daugher has a PII with Win98. It is hooked to it internet using dialup modem. Whenever she clicks on the IE desktop icon, the Dial-up window appears to put in password, but the option to 'remember password' is grayed out. How can I get the option working?

Try this. In the network applet in the control panel change the logon type to something other than it is right now. Reboot the computer. When Windows starts you'll be prompted for a password. If you don't want one, leave everything blank and click ok. Don't click cancel or you'll be right back where you started. Hopefully this will take care of it.

Thank you, I will try that tomorrow. I have done everything I know with my limited knowledge.

If Zander's suggestiong didn't work, check out the instructions on this page.

If that doesn't work, uninstalling and reinstalling Dial Up Networking (DUN) usually fixes a greyed-out "save password" box in the dialup window. You will have to re-do the account settings (phone number, user name and password) after reinstalling DUN so be sure you have that information before you start.
